How difficult is the process to write a book/novel?

I have all these creative ideas that i would like to turn into a novel or series of novels.....Does anyone know how hard it is to get it published or what you need to do? Or about how long it would take and any costs??? Thanks:)!How difficult is the process to write a book/novel?My friend just published her first children's book. It took her over a year to write it. She had it professional edited, and critiqued. She tried for over 2 years to get her book published by all the publishers that would look at manuscripts from unknown authors. There are not as many as you think. Some will not look at your manuscript without an agent. All of these things cost money. At least $1000 minimum. She found a publisher that published her book at no cost to her. However they keep wanting her to purchase additional books. She will not get her first royalty check until August. I will send you an article about her book. It will give you a web-site for the publishing company. Good luck on your writing. You can also publish short stories on line. I will send you her link to her articles. How difficult is the process to write a book/novel?very much depends how good your writing is!

If you go for a publishing house you may well get alot of knockbacks, hopefully one will come through though. One knockback does not mean you are a bad writer, so don't be discouraged. from final manuscript to publishing can take around 4 months. It could be considerably shorter though.

Vanity publishing, if I remember correctly, costs around 1500 for a reasonable run of books and some advertising too. That again depends on the company you approach. Vanity publishers will generally try and knock your book out quick - say 6 to 8 weeks.

One bit of advice I was given a while back - not directly related to publishing but good advice for anyone thinking of writing..... Even if you're not specifically writing your masterpiece, write at least 500 words a day. About anything. Bin the finished goods at the end if you don't intend using it. Using your writing brain is all about practice. The more you write, the better you get.

Hope some of that is some use.How difficult is the process to write a book/novel?It might be best to write an outline...I did not and I jumped straight into writing, which isn't a bad thing, but it really all depends. If you don't write an outline, you could have a ton of these ideas floating around that you just start to write down, but it then becomes hard to piece together these different scenes and to put them into what order. I've rewrote my book over 10 times and I am trying to take things out that I don't like, and replace them, and in other cases I push them aside for later use. So honestly, you really need alot of patience. I have been working on my book for 7+ years and it has changed alot.

---Tips:

- Make an outline, it may be easier

- Have patience.

- Keep your mind fresh %26amp; full of possibilities, so you don't get writer's block alot.

- Don't obsess with everything being perfect, or you may end up like me, wanting to rewrite it over 10+ times.

Good luck, have fun!How difficult is the process to write a book/novel?You have to be patient and not expect everything to be perfect the first time you write. You can write an outline, but you don't have to. Do whatever works for you. There is competition when trying to get published, but NEVER give up. Unless you are self publishing it should never cost you anything. How difficult is the process to write a book/novel?you have to have the patience and the will.

%26amp; you can't just start writing a book... you have to write an out line.

%26amp; a big one.

First, make a plot brainstorm a series of events and what would make your book interesting.

Then, plan out all the chapters and decide what will be in each chapter.

After that, you should go in depth outlining and planning what you will be in each individual chapter.

ex:

Chapter 7:

-where john gets %26amp; kayla finally kiss.

-how does it happen?

-where does it happen?

-what can lead to it?

-what would make it more interesting/intense?

^^^

make questions that you can answer and elaborate on, but you need to know what's going to be in the next chapter before you start on one, so you can make it all makes sense and flow %26amp; organizedHow difficult is the process to write a book/novel?Ugh it's soooooooooooooooo hard. I wrote a novel, that was the easy part. Take it from someone who knows..... I built a website around it. Learn about my journey...I went through it all :)
