How much does forklift certification cost?

My husband is looking for a step out of retail and into production but he isn't really certified for anything. There are plenty of entry level production openings, but most require a forklift license. Roughly how much does this sort of certification cost and how do we know if his certification will be valid for the jobs hiring? Is there an Ontario government standard for the certification? I worry that he winds up with some back door school but then isn't able to use his certification because it's invalid or irrelevant. Thanks in advance!
